The CAdES (CMS Advanced Electronic Signature) electronic seal is the digital equivalent of your company stamp. It certifies that a document originates from your organisation and has not been modified since its issuance. Unlike a simple signature, the CAdES seal is linked to a qualified eIDAS2 certificate issued by an accredited trust service provider, guaranteeing its authenticity and legal validity.
Technically, the CAdES seal encapsulates the document in a signed CMS (Cryptographic Message Syntax) envelope, embedding the organisation's certificate, the certification chain and optionally a timestamp. The CAdES format offers several signature levels — B-B (baseline), B-T (with timestamp), B-LT (long-term) and B-LTA (long-term with archiving) — to adapt to your preservation needs.
