The European Trusted List, or LOTL (List Of Trusted Lists), is the official registry listing accredited trust service providers (TSPs) in each EU Member State. Hextal natively integrates this list and synchronises it automatically to validate in real time the legitimacy of any certificate, signature, seal or electronic timestamp presented by a third party.
In practice, when an electronically signed document is uploaded to Hextal — for example a contract signed by a partner — the system automatically queries the LOTL to verify that the signer's certificate was indeed issued by an accredited TSP and has not been revoked. This validation is performed each time the document is accessed, ensuring the signature remains valid over time.
The LOTL is regularly updated by the European Commission and each Member State. Hextal synchronises these updates daily to guarantee your platform always has the most recent version. This integration is a key element of eIDAS2 compliance, as it enables recognition and trust of electronic signatures from all Member States.
Validation of foreign certificates is entirely automatic. You don't have to manually verify a trust provider's legitimacy.
